WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
A severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) typically occurs within minutes after you are exposed to something you are allergic to. Anaphylaxis needs to be treated with an injection of epinephrine (an EpiPen). It can be life-threatening if not treated right away. After each time an EpiPen is used, you should call 911 and go to the emergency room right away for immediate follow up to monitor for worsening symptoms. It is also important to follow up with your primary care provider if you used an EpiPen for a reaction.
